  • Sin Star Clothing. The brand. Created by best friends and fellow band members, Sam Bell and Ryan Stripe in 2010.

  • The boys met in 2004 when both started a band with three other friends, and began to follow their dreams to make music and become renowned musicians. For six years the band worked tirelessly, holed up in the studio and touring the UK. However, they found that the whirlwind of band life and their fierce dedication to their craft, meant that home life often suffered as a consequence.

Searching for a new outlet for their creativity and ambition, Ryan and Sam decided to forge their talents together and create their own company. Neither felt cut out for the drudgery of the ‘nine to five’ way of working, and both wanted a job that had physical rewards for their hard work and enthusiasm. Thus, the idea of Sin Star was born.

Whilst Ryan had experience as a professional photographer in his free time, and Sam had skills as a professional animator and graphic designer, neither was able to use these skills as often as they would have liked, as the band took up so much of their time and energy. However, by forging their knowledge together, they realised that they became a strong team with a dynamic knowledge-base on designing and producing clothing.

The first designs were simple t-shirt prints of distinctive images and slogans aimed at family and friends. This then spread by word of mouth to a wider audience, including fellow bands, local skate parks and distant strangers. As their notoriety grew, so did the brand, until by early 2011 the boys had firmly established themselves with full garment creation.

The aim was to create a brand which was respectable, and yet carried a message. They wanted the clothes to be wearable, and yet be a representation of their lifestyles – including the mayhem of band life, and the rock’n’roll existence that so many aspire to. However the brand itself exemplifies complete versatility, as seen by the way it appeals to a broad audience, including the band scene, urban sports fans such as BMX and Parkour, and the everyday Average Joe.

The brand’s message is ‘Armour Against Authority’, something the boys believe inspires a positive outlook on the future. They know that life is not easy, they have suffered at the hands of many ups and downs, both in their band and their new business venture. As they have followed, and now realised, their dream, they urge others to do the same.

Remember, ‘We are Who We Are’. Make your own decisions and don’t let anyone put you down.

Become one of the Unique, the United and the Untouchable.

Wear Sin Star, Armour Against Authority.
